Meet the course director

Peter Herbst (BigB) has been a PADI Open water Scuba Instructor since 1996 and qualified as a PADI Course Director in 2004. He also became a PADI Tek Rec Instructor Trainer in 2005.

He still actively manages his own 5-star PADI IDC (Instructor Development Centre) in South Africa and conducts Instructor development courses at various participating PADI IDC centers throughout South and East Africa. BigB is still deeply involved in scuba diving, be it training, sales, travel, or conservation.

Peter's expertise ranges from recreational to technical diving as well as center management. The experience was gained through actively being involved in the daily duties of an active PADI dive center, global travel, and continuing his training and education beyond scuba instructor.

BigB does not just train new Instructors to meet Industry demands, but also assists them with business ideas, marketing and problems that may arise from time to time, long after their IDC is completed.

He trains candidates to become valuable PADI instructors – not just to pass an exam. Teaching methods are open minded, flexible and will instill the necessary confidence to excel in this industry.

BigB is qualified to teach ALL levels of PADI courses to Instructor level – including the PADI DSAT Technical courses from Tec 40 to Tec TX and Tec CCR 100.
